Now retired after an on-off CART career, which ended in 2009. Initially Darren became a co-owner of Artsy Couture in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, a photographic arts and media design and supply company, but now keeps links closer to the sport through his racing simulator company based in Indianapolis. He also has a base in Wetherby, Yorkshire. Manning was the 1999 Japanese Formula 3 champion who was also a multiple winner in British Formula 3 and won the 1999 Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 race. Despite that and a test-drive with Williams BMW F1 and acting as BAR's reserve driver, a lack of available funds and a poor 2001 Formula 3000 season left Darren thereafter with a stop-start career, which included ASCAR, A1 GP and sportscars.
