Thomas was a very successful rally driver and team owner in Scandinavia, which included World Rally Championship events. In 2008, he moved into Swedish touring cars, before retiring in 2009. Schie started racing in 1991 and remained, until Pal Varhaug raced in GP2 from 2011 until 2013, the only Norwegian driver, post-war, to race at one level below Formula 1. Schie is a commentator on Norwegian television on Formula 1 but his main role is away from motorsport - he is a manager of Proffklaer, a supplier of workwear and protective equipment and is still based in Oslo.
