A misunderstanding with Bertrand Gachot and Pacific denied Gavin a GP debut in 1995, but he has led more GP's than most as the long-time driver of the FIA safety car. But this was not his only motorsport foray, for he has been in endurance events, GT's and the Porsche Supercup since. Now mostly in America, racing sportscars (he is currently in the IMSA Sportscar Series) and GT's, winning the GT ALMS title in 2005 and 2007. He also races in the ADAC GT Master series.
