Drove in touring cars and sportscars after Formula 1. His stepson, Jack Clarke, raced in the Formula 2 series and more recently, in British Touring Cars, and Julian helped him but does also occasionally test cars and did do, until recently, the odd corporate event. However, he has been a little poorly lately, and so has spent more time on his property interests and pub renovation in Surrey, running a successful pub called the William Bray in Shere, Surrey. Bailey enjoyed a decent career in the sport, overcoming a huge accident right as his career started in 1980 when he broke a leg, hand and arm in a Formula Ford accident, to eventually move up the ranks. Bailey has been based in Surrey since his time with Tyrrell.
