McCracken entered his own car, a March-Buick, racing under the JMC Racing banner, for the race at Milwaukee in 1988. He qualified 12th, and finished an excellent third, but never raced in the ARS series again. John also raced in his Reynard in Formula Ford 2000 in Ireland and Britain and then took the car Stateside, to race in the US and Canadian Formula 2000 series in those respective countries. John also raced in Irish FF1600 in the late 1970's after starting his career in modsport midgets. He was well known in local racing circles for wearing his sweatband under his helmet. He sadly died in 1998 in a car crash.
