Still involved in the Mini club racing scene, where he's held in the highest regard - he used to drive, until a huge crash in 2006 meant retirement. Sadly, the crash also cost him the sight in one eye, but he is making a recovery, and is using the time to write a book about his life, whilst vowing to continue making appearances at historic festivals (including the Goodwood Revival in 2008). John also likes to restore classic cars.
