Very sadly died recently after a period of ill health battling Parkinson's Disease. Until illness set in, he was extremely busy. He restored vintage cars and pianos, commentated, raced in historic events, and aided son Derek's career. Phil was also head of the Ancien Pilotes and visited as many historics as his illness allowed and indeed was on the way to visiting one when his health detoriated. Above all, this intelligent, delightful man was an excellent ambassador for motor racing.
