Killed in a sprint car crash on a track which was still slightly damp in places from heavy rain that morning. Woodford skidded off the racing line on the third lap and was then also hit by another driver. Woodford raced often in the Californian racing scene, as he was based in Seattle, and at his death had around 20 years racing experience. As a racer, Woodford was by far and away, at his best in sprint car oval racing but also competed in midget and stock cars.
