Successful caravan manufacturer by trade. After the Eifelland project faltered, Gunther sold the caravan business and the Eifelland Formula 1 attempt was dropped. Hennerici was believed to have made a return to the caravan industry a few years later. He was married to the F2 racer Hannelore Werner. Died of a heart-attack. Gunther was the twin brother of Heinz Hennerici, a former World War Two tank commander who later became a racing driver, despite losing an arm during the war. Hennerici's great-nephew, Marc, also became a racing driver.
