Died recently after a short illness. A longtime resident of Klamath River, California, George spent a lot of time refurbishing his sail boat, on which he resided some of the year, and also wrote an autobiography. In 2014, George was inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Started racing in 1952 in motorcycles and carried on until 1987, primarily in midget racing and gained a reputation as a remarkably safe and capable driver, occuring barely any injury in all that time. George has also written a book about sailing - Cruising the Northwest Coast from the Golden Gate to Port Angeles. George also worked as a gold miner and welder and built midget racing cars.
