Best known for his long super-modified racing career - he continues to race in the discipline to this day, but also races snowmobiles. His brother, Ed, is a noted ice-hockey coach. Gosek has twice won the International Supermodified Association title (1987, 2000) and has also twice won the Oswego Speedway Supermodified Association title (2003-2011). Joe has also taken over seventy wins, which includes the Sandusky Hy-Miler Nationals, Oswego's Budweiser International Classic, and the Star Speedway Classic, three of the most feted supermodified races. In 2019, he was elected to the Eastern Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame.
