Had kept a relatively low profile since leaving Jaguar. Works as an independent consultant and engineer, but was also recently a director of B3 Technologies. Nichols initially worked in the aerospace industry, becoming a development engineer after leaving University. Ten years later he moved into motorsport, with his greatest success being at McLaren, designing the race-winning McLaren MP4/3 and then the all-conquering 1988 championship winning MP4/4. Spells with Ferrari, Jordan and Sauber followed before he rejoined McLaren as a technical consultant in the late 1990's. Nichols, who still lives in the UK, has recently designed a high-end, high-speed road car specifically catered for track testing and experience days.
