Uncle of Michel. Was in off-road racing. A pivotal figure in Michel Jr's progression from rookie to race-winner, Bernard now lives in California. He runs a restaurant in Encinitas, called El Callejon, which he has done since the mid 1990's onwards, as well as other business projects. As a racer, Bernard carried on as recently as 2006 in both GT's and the Baja 1000 event, winning his class (The Wide Open Class) in 2005. Jourdain began his racing career relatively late, in 1978. In his CART career, which lasted from 1988 until 1991, his best finish was sixth at the Miami Speedway in 1988.
