A qualified electrical engineer, Cyril was heir to a family sugar empire and when his father was murdered by a valet, Cyril took control of the business. He expanded the firm into numerous projects, including motor racing and also became mayor of Chaumont. He also worked in real estate and as a film producer. However, his ambitions were greater than his realism and he was tried and jailed for embezzlement. After his jail term, he has understandably kept a low profile, but he does still retain a role in the family firm and is still very much involved in local politics and community projects in Chaumont.
