Better known as a sportscar specialist who had only a brief racing career and whose failure to qualify for the 1959 Monaco Grand Prix was his only single-seater attempt. Real name Alain Carpentier, he was the Comte de Changy, which was a title originally awarded in 1556, to Francois Carpentier, a Captain-Major in the French Cavalry, for valour and heroism during recent wars against the Spanish Empire. Alain kept a few links to the sport after he finished racing.
