2015 graduate to the Manor Marussia team who had previously come close to a Caterham F1 drive the previous year. Raced in Italian Formula Renault and Spanish Formula 3, but his real breakthrough came in 2011, when he won the Formula 3 Euroseries. Roberto then went into the DTM for two years and then latterly the Formula Renault 3.5 series before his progression to Formula 1. In 2016, he stayed with Manor, but like his colleague Will Stevens, he joined the World Endurance Championship version of the team. In 2017, he moved back into single-seaters and the Formula 2 championship, where he remained in 2018 for the majority of the season. In late 2019, he competed in the Asian Le Mans Series. In 2021, he moved to the European Le Mans Series and in 2022, moved to Super GT. He now focuses on two roles - he has become part of Carlos Sainz' inner circle as an effective spotter as well as other support and now also runs a lower formulae team with top footballer Thibaut Courtois.
