Prior to this, Stefano competed in Formula Renault, Formula 3 and Formula Renault 3.5. In 2015, Stefano moved to the Indycar Series, but despite a reasonable performance, he moved back to Europe to race in the European Le Mans Series. In 2017, he moved back to GP2, under its new guise as the Formula 2 series. Without a drive in 2018, he then left the sport and now runs a real estate business in Monte Carlo. In 2020, he made a welcome return to racing in the International GT Open Series and in 2021, he is in the electric European touring car series.
