Finally stopped racing competitively in 2016 after originally part-retiring in 2014. Nephew of Sheldon, Steve is a hugely successful and legendary sprint car racer and in 2005, won his 20th World of Outlaws Championship - he won his first championship as far back as 1978! He also took over 600 wins. Now also runs a team. Still lives in Bloomington. Kinser won the Knoxville National event twelve times but he did also compete in NASCAR. However, Kinser's first love was wrestling. He won the Indiana senior state championship at school and then also at Indiana University, before also becoming a mixed martial-arts competitor. Two of his three sons have also wrestled - the other one becoming a racing driver instead - and Steve was well into his twenties when he took up racing.
