Theodore (1978-1983)

Entrepreneur based in the Far East, who aside from the vast amount of business interests and ideas, was directly responsible for Macau being a major tourist centre. Yip remained involved with the sport after F1 via the Macau F3 race and after business retirement in the 1980's, continued to enjoy racing. Teddy was born as Jap Tek Lie when Indonesia was part of the Dutch East Indies and Yip moved to Holland to study. He moved to Hong Kong in the 1940's and built up his business empire which included casinos, travel agencies and hotels before getting involved in motor racing in the 1950's as a racer and the 1970's as a team owner. Yip was a complex, somewhat impetuous man, but was a real enthusiastic and a positive influence when he wanted to be.
