An experienced campaigner in the Dallara Nissan series, he was without a drive for ages, until a surprise return to racing and the World Touring Car Championship in 2005. Although he occasionally works as a driver coach, he now runs a business called La Mas Mona in Madrid, where he lives, which is an online high-quality fashion and fashion accessory loan/borrowing service. During his career, Polo won the 1997 Spanish Formula Renault title and also raced in Italian Formula 3000 and Spanish GT's. Villaamil formerly worked as a senior foreign exchange trader and salesman at a number of banks including Deutsche Bank and Nomura. Polo also, before that, worked as a purchasing manager after finishing racing.
