F3000 Champion in 2002, he went Stateside and impressed hugely in CART with the Newman-Haas team, winning the title four years in a row between 2004 and 2007. His dream was to race in Formula 1, but it turned into a nightmare, with it lasting just a season-and-a-half. After spells in Formula Superleague and endurance, he is back in the US and Indycars once again, and continues in this in 2018, although Bourdais sometimes also appears in the World Endurance Championship and other big endurance events. However, Sebastien's 2017 season was cut short after suffering serious injuries during qualifying for the Indianapolis 500.
