Of French ancestry, DeHart was a road race specialist. Later became a manager of a string of country clubs across the US; these included roles at Bloomington Hills, Indiana; Winding Hollow Country Club in Columbus, Ohio; The Country Club of Detroit, Michigan; Shaker Heights in Ohio and La Crosse Country Club, Miami, Florida, continuing in various roles in golf club management until the 1970's. As well as his Indianapolis attempts, DeHart appeared in numerous events around 1932 and 1933, often in a Riley and Brett car. Full name was Lemuel Alfred DeHart.
