Was a long-time test driver in F1, but after a brief spell with Super Aguri, moved on to appear in Champ Car, A1 GP and the American Le Mans Series. In 2009, he had a few IRL one-offs as well as a sportscar programme (ELMS), and for some years, he continued with that. Montagny was mainly in both current and historic rallying, but he made a surprise return appearance in the Indycar Series in 2014 and also has driven in Formula E recently. However, his career stalled in 2015 after testing positive for a derivative of cocaine at a Formula E event. After a two year ban from the sport, Montagny returned to racing, but as a pit-lane summariser and expert for French TV.
