Worked as an adviser to Ferrari until 1963, when he then set up his own company, but this only lasted a few years before Vittorio retired. Bellentani chose to study in Germany but moved back to Italy in 1940 to join Ferrari, before joining Maserati in 1950. He was involved in the Maserati 250F but he was chiefly responsible for the development of the Maserati A6. His brother, Riccardo ran the BRM (Bellentani Riccardo Modena) engine company and Vittorio helped his brother develop a number of two-stroke engines until his death. Vittorio's full name was Vittorio Uccilto Giuseppe Maria Bellentani.
