Indycar debutant in 2020, the series champion just one year later, who remained in the series for 2023, winning his second title that year. He is still in the series in 2024. Palou won the WSK Euro Series karting title in 2012. He progressed through to the Euroformula Open Championship and Spanish Formula 3, winning races in both before moving up to GP3 in 2015 and 2016 with former Formula 1 driver and compatriot Adrian Campos and his lower-formulae team. In 2017, Alex moved to Japan to compete in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship, finishing third in the series with three wins. He also impressed in the World Series Formula V8 3.5 series and also made his Formula 2 debut, again for Campos. In 2018, he raced in the FIA Formula 3 Championship before a return to Japan in 2019 for both Super GT and Super Formula, finishing third in the latter series to earn his Indycar bow.
