Brother of Pancho, son of Duane. Involved in motorsport until his early death from a heart-attack. Dana raced in midget, sprints and was a regular in the USAC Silver Crown Series. Carter raced in USAC and CART events from 1979 until 1982, specialising in ovals, either dirt or paved. His best result was his first race, a tenth place at Ontario in his Molly-Mate Eagle-Offy. Due to his early death and also the success of his brother, Dana is largely forgotten now, but was a regular winner in Silver Crown racing.
