The first full-time Chinese driver in Formula 1, Zhou has largely raced in Europe, having travelled over at the age of nine to the UK to race karts. In his graduation to cars, he immediately impressed in Italian Formula 4, finishing second in the series. He then spent 3 years in the FIA Formula 3 championship before then spending the same amount of time in Formula 2. He has also been involved with the Alpine/Renault team as a test driver. Guanyu is racing with Alfa Romeo/Sauber/Stake for the 2024 season.
