Although better known as a Australian Supercars touring car driver, McLaughlin's success for Penske in that discipline transferred into a Indycar drive with them in 2020. Scott won the 2018 and 2019 Supercars title and the 2019 Bathurst event. McLaughlin started racing at a young age and made his Supercar V8 debut in 2010 aged just sixteen. He won a race in the New Zealand Touring Car Cup in 2011, aged seventeen and in 2012, won the New Zealand V8 Super Tourers title. Since 2013, he had been a touring car regular with much success from 2016 onwards, but from 2021, tackles Indycar full time, remaining there in 2023.
