Uncle of Steve. A sprint car star, Sheldon passed away after a valiant fight against throat cancer, racing in 1987 despite losing his voice box. Initially started his working career in the family tree logging business, before spending some time in the US Navy. From the mid 1960's onwards, Kinser became one of sprint car's most successful drivers, winning the USAC Championship in 1977, 1981 and 1982, amongst many other plaudits. Kinser's wife was Bobby Grim's step-daughter.
