Started as a rally driver, then became involved in the managerial side, bringing Toyota huge success. His switch to the F1 branch of the company was less successful and brought down by controversy elsewhere in the company. After working as a consultant to the team, when he part-retired, he left Toyota in 2007 to work on his leisure company business and moved to South Africa to start a new life, which ended in tragedy when Ove was killed in a crash whilst taking part in a historic rally. Before rallying, he served as a UN peacekeeper.
