3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

The cars had travelled by road from Watkins Glen, so there were no changes. McLaren had three M7As; Brabham two BT26s; Honda the pair of RA301s, one as a spare; Ferrari three 312/68s for two drivers, Ickx returning with his left leg still in a support; BRM were down to two cars for Rodriguez and Courage as Unser and BRM had agreed he would not continue; Lotus had three 49Bs with the car Andretti drove at Watkins Glen allocated to Solana; both Matra teams had their usual pair of cars but the organisers were reluctant to accept entries for Servoz-Gavin in the second MS10 and Pescarolo in the second MS11; and Cooper had the usual pair of hopelessly slow T86Bs. Privateers were Siffert in the Walker/Durlacher 49B and Bonnier's McLaren-BRM. As Unser had withdrawn, Pescarolo took over his #9 slot on the entry list in the MS11 he drove during practice at the Glen, and after some negotiation, Servoz-Gavin was allowed a start in the second MS10 but without start money. While this was being thrashed out, Servoz-Gavin learnt the track in Elford's Cooper as Elford was late arriving.

Jabby Crombac wrote Sport Auto's report and said Pescarolo drove MS11/03, whereas Richard Tall's reports from Canada and the US had called Pescarolo's car MS11/02.
