Heger won the first Porsche Supercup title in 1993, and in 2007, announced he would return to the series for a special one-off race before retiring for good. Raced for quite a while in German Touring Cars after F3000 and then went into series administration and promotion, firstly in touring cars and now a Porsche Sports Cup Series. Now also running a sportscar team, and this venture made him decide to return the racing again, in GT's, in 2010. Still has the team (in the Porsche Sports Cup), and is still racing, currently in both long-distance endurance events as well as historic events. As well as the team, Hegersport, Altfried's business, specialises in motorsport marketing, race instructing and winter driving skills amongst other specialities.
