Step-father to Ron Gregory, who raced in midgets for a while. Irvin later became a sponsor and was also a team owner. Now retired, and is still living in Noblesville, Indiana. Irvin himself mainly raced in sprint and midget cars, but his single-seater career spanned a good 5 years, proving himself best on ovals. As well as running a business, Irvin has also worked on charitable fundraising in his local area and other community projects.
