Born in Montreal, but a long time resident of Toronto, Ontario, Nicholas graduated to Formula 1 in 2020 with Williams to become that decade's first debutant. Yet another graduate of karting, Nicholas raced in a variety of series before settling in Formula 3 racing in the Italian, British and European Championships. In 2016, he became a F1 test and reserve driver for Renault and has also tested for Force India and Williams. From 2014 to 2019, he raced in GP2 (or Formula 2 as it became), taking six wins and finishing as 2019 runner-up. He is the son of Michael Latifi, a top businessman in Canada. Latifi is of Iranian descent via his father. He remained at Williams until the end of the 2022 season. In 2023, he announced he is leaving racing to take up studying for a MBA at London Business School.
