Suffered well-publicised drink problems - and related issues to do with his drinking - which have damaged his career somewhat. Currently a racing driving instructor and coach, as well as being a road car tester. Harrington began racing in motorcycles in motocross and supercross before spells in SCCA, Formula Atlantic, the Shelby Can-Am Pro Series and then in CART. Scott competes in historic racing as well as exhibition races, including the SVRA Indy Legends Pro-Am race in 2017, and maintains links to sportscar racing especially through his coaching.
