Carlo is now a prominent and long-serving politician in Argentina, based in his native Santa Fe, who currently serves in the Argentine Senate. Reutemann is still involved with motorsport in his home country though, and was heavily involved in nearly getting Jose Maria Lopez a Formula 1 drive with the ultimately abortive USF1 effort in 2010. Reutemann has always had a passion for tractors and still rides one on his ranch in Santa Fe at weekends so he can enjoy a bit of quiet time, although in recent years his health has not been quite so good, with Reutemann having breaks from his political work accordingly. Although Carlos came close to returning to Formula 1 with Ligier, he eventually spent some time in rallying before stopping for good.
