A very popular man, he was a regular at historics and worked for many years for Wynn Oil. Sadly, robbers broke into his house twice - the first time the attack killed his wife and injured Jackie. Despite this, he still attended historic events and stayed upbeat, but when the 2nd attack happened, Jackie was badly injured, and after a spell in a coma, he died, leaving the whole South African motor racing world aghast and in mourning over his murder.
