Retired after World War Two to live near Buenos Aires and remained involved with the sport through interviews about the early days. Died after being in ill-health for some while. Of Italian birth and dual nationality, he was also known as Giovanni Gaudino. As a racer, Gaudino was a great friend and rival of Raoul Riganti, and like his compatriot, starting off racing motorcycles before becoming an accomplished road racing driver, racing a range of touring cars. He even built his own car, and this became very popular in post-war times, with many other young hopefuls racing it.
