Continued racing in Mexico for a while, but after a break from racing, he became director general of a large food production firm, Gruma, which is based in his home city. Roberto, who has graduated from two business schools, including Harvard, has also worked for Gruma in Costa Rica. Was based in single seaters in both Mexico and Spain before his US spell. Gonzalez is the son of of former racer Roberto Gonzalez Sr, whilst Roberto's younger brother is Ricardo Gonzalez, who has won in his class at Le Mans. In more recent years, Gonzalez has returned to racing and is currently in the World Endurance Championship.
