Died of colon cancer in 2022. He moved to Arizona where he did racing driver instructing and ran an events management company. Ted got his break in motorsport from an unusual but very famous source - his British-born mother used to be the business manager for film legend James Stewart and it was he who bought Ted his first racing car - a Super Vee - back in 1983. Prappas' father was Greek and so Ted - short for Theodore - raced with the flags of Greece, Britain and America emblazoned on his helmet. Prappas was a race winner in both Formula Atlantic and the American Racing Series. Despite his illness, Ted continued to keep in touch with the sport even working as a race official from time to time. He also did stunt driving for films and worked as tester for Mercedes and BMW occassionally.
