Indianapolis based youngster who had a brief post-World War 2 career in sprint and dirt cars. He entered his own Offy-powered car, with support from the Century Tires and Perfect Circle Piston Ring businesses. However he failed to qualify and appeared to stop racing as a result. An earlier newspaper report refers to him as a dirt track racer who raced in the late 1930's and early 1940's. Listed as an aviator, he served in World War Two as a pilot in the European theatre of war in the Greek Air Force and also in Canadian Air Force. A couple of newspaper reports reveal a bit more about Boggs, although how much is promotion and how much was reality is hard to decipher, but he was born Charles Thomas Boggs, and was a promoter in Arizona of midget races. He was also a trailer salesman. He had the moniker Tailspin Tommy, as he performed wing-walking on planes, parachute jumping and flew crop dusting planes. He had a fish cannery in Alaska, and was a pilot in Canada. Although he was engaged to the widow of Ted Horn, he never ended up marrying her. Other things that have been claimed is that he was a freight haulier in Alaska and that he ran a sky diving team in Sherman Oaks, California where he moved in 1957 with wife Myrna.
