A car salesman, most notably for Mercer. The E H stood for Edward Hoag. Sherwood got his drives through his Mercer links, driving for no other car manufacturer but them. Subsequently, he ended up relieving Charlie Bigelow for some laps in the first ever Indianapolis 500.
