Got into Formula 1 via composite design with Prost. Has been with Sauber and then Alfa Romeo since 2002, which followed on from three years at Prost. Gandelin worked for five years as a composite design engineer for Sauber before becoming the head of their concept design between 2008 and 2013. He then got promoted to become chief designer after that. He is still involved in the design team although the Sauber name is now long gone.
