Born:

08 Dec 1940
Fresno, California

Nationality:

United States

Indy 500s:

22 (1965-1990)

Was a successful team-owner in the USAC Silver Crown Series, but now retired. Retains links to the sport however. George himself carried on driving until the mid 1990's. Snider has the unfortunate record of competing in the most Indianapolis 500's, without actually winning one, with his best finish being 8th in 1975. Snider remained involved after team management as he has part-ownership of a sprint car team. Often referred to as Ziggy Snider, George raced in supermodified and modified cars in the early 1960's and was particularly good on dirt-tracks. A sprint-car race in his honour is held at Kern County Raceway in California.
