NASCAR legend. Became a team-owner after retirement but retired from the sport after stopping that role in 1999. Cale lived in South Carolina all his life, where he ran two car dealerships and ran a race-shop from his farm. Also formed a racing school. Yarborough was actually an American Football ace at college, but had always had a passion for racing, and worked on a turkey farm and as a lumberjack so he could both race and support his wife, eschewing any kind of football scholarship. Yarborough's NASCAR success was immense, but in short he was the NASCAR champion for three consecutive years from 1976 onwards and won the 1968, 1977, 1983 and 1984 Daytona 500 race. After a long period of illness, Yarborough died on the last day of 2023.
