Fine driver killed in a sportscar crash, whilst at the peak of his career. Elder brother of Ricardo, Pedro, a very religious man, was a true great of wet-weather racing. Loved racing with a passion, and had particularly strong success in sportscars. He won the 1970 and 1971 Daytona 24 Hour race and the 1968 Le Mans and anyone who saw his drive in a Gulf Porsche 917K at a sodden 1970 BOAC 1000kms at Bands Harch will never forget it, coming from nowhere to win. Pedro, like his brother, started racing incredibly young, racing motorcycles when he was 11, becoming national champion at 14 and then started racing when he was fifteen in a Jaguar. He was already an European regular before he was out of his teens. Pedro also graduated - despite all this - in business administration from university and ran a Mercedes Benz dealership in Mexico City.
