Formerly a London based car dealer who now runs an agricultural and food supplies business near his home in Berkshire, although he does still dabble in the classic car trade, which he started in. He continued to race in historic events until 2018, when he was unwittingly involved in an accident caused by another driver, but is very well known in the field of historic aviation, being a collector and restorer of classic planes. Until very recently, he also flew planes. His brother Peter also raced but his career ended after being badly hurt in a Formula 3 race. Lamplough converted many of the cars he bought, competing in single-seaters, club, historic and sportscar racing.
