Now retired from sheep farming in Llandovery, Wales, he moved back to Stroud to run a garage business initially, but also to be involved in property. Also worked on a farm for years and even tried harness racing. Retired from racing due to his marriage, although he was also very disillusioned with the BRM he'd bought in 1962 and never quite had the same spark for racing - a tremendous shame as he'd shown a lot of ability in his short career. Later spent a long time living in Rhandirmwyn. His father was a motorcycle dealer who competed in some motorcycle races and the Isle of Man TT just after the war before setting up the garage business in Stroud that Jack then took over.
