Killed in the last race of the 1971 season, the Rothmans Victory Race. A quiet, humorous fellow, 'Seppi' was extremely brave and a hard worker, who was successful in a number of different disciplines. Amongst his biggest achievements were winning the 1961 International Formula Junior title, two Grand Prixs (notably for privateer Rob Walker at the 1968 British Grand Prix), the 1968 Daytona 24 Hours, Sebring 12 Hours and the Nurburgring 1000km races and the 1970 Targa Florio. Siffert was another of the many drivers who started off racing motorcycles and Jo won the national title in 1958 in the 350cc class on two wheels before moving into cars.
