After a decent, but not stellar lower formulae record, Buemi was a driver with Scuderia Toro Rosso for three years in Formula 1 until being dropped at the end of 2011. Although he does remain - nominally - a test driver for Red Bull, Buemi is now racing full-time in the World Endurance Championship, as well as appearing in the new Formula E series. Buemi's cousin, Natacha Gachnang, has also appeared in single-seater and sportscar racing. Buemi won Le Mans in 2018 and again in 2019, as well as winning the World Endurance Championship title. A third Le Mans win followed in 2020 and then a fourth in 2022.
